LGBTQ+ health

You will not have to explain yourself here.

Most people looking at a page like this are not trying to find out what services are available. They are trying to work out whether the appointment is going to be uncomfortable.

Dr Morris is a cis gay man. He knows some of the barriers to healthcare from the inside, and he works at staying alert to the ones he has not personally run into, because his experience is not everyone’s.

You can use the language you use. You do not need to brief anyone. The practice is inclusive of the whole community, however you describe yourself and whether or not the acronym has caught up yet.

Where the practice sits

  • Listed with ACON as a gay friendly GP
  • Member of ASHM, the Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine
  • Shared care arrangement with Sydney Sexual Health Centre
  • S100 authorised prescriber for HIV and viral hepatitis

What is available here

  • Sexual health screening, in person or by phone
  • PrEP management and PEP, subject to the timing rules on the HIV page
  • HIV care with an S100 prescriber, integrated with the rest of your health
  • Hepatitis C treatment and hepatitis B shared care
  • Mental health care
  • Referrals to rainbow friendly fertility specialists
  • Everything else a GP does, which is most of it

Hormone therapy

Dr Morris does not initiate or prescribe gender affirming hormone therapy. That is not a judgement about the care, it is about who is best placed to provide it.

If your hormone therapy has been prescribed by a clinician with that training, it can be administered here under a shared care arrangement, and the rest of your healthcare can sit here too.
